Important safety notice for scarves and shawls in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of scarves and shawls (cotton, silk, wool, viscose, polyester, acrylic; short, long, circular "neck warmers", with fringes, beads, brooches, magnetic or metal clasps). Since they can be flammable, catch on objects, contain small, sharp or magnetic accessories, and restrict breathing if tied incorrectly, please follow the instructions below.

Basic safety and handling principles

• Keep out of reach of small children: Brooches, beads, clasps, and magnets pose a risk of swallowing or inhalation; the product is not a toy.
• Check before use: Inspect seams, edges, fringes, and fastenings; torn or fraying parts can cause catching.
• Fire and heat: Most textiles are flammable; avoid open flames, sparks, candles, and hot appliances.
• Magnetic/metal parts: Keep away from payment cards and sensitive electronics; persons with implanted devices should maintain a safe distance from strong magnets.
• Sharp elements: Handle brooches and pins carefully to avoid pricking and damaging clothing.

Proper and safe use

• Loose ends: When working with machines, on escalators, bicycles, or scooters, do not wear long loose ends; choose short tying or a neck warmer.
• Tying and breathing: Tying must not restrict breathing or blood circulation in the neck; avoid tight knots, especially for children and seniors.
• Sports and activities: During sports and manual work, remove the scarf or use a low-profile, firmly fixed solution without loose parts.
• Purpose: Do not use as a strap, carrier, safety device, or improvised protective equipment; it is not intended for these purposes.
• Visibility: When traveling on roads in the dark, choose bright/reflective elements and tying that does not obstruct the field of vision.

Cleaning, maintenance, and storage

• According to the label: Respect care symbols; some materials (silk, wool) require gentle washing or dry cleaning.
• Temperature and chemicals: Avoid high temperatures and aggressive cleaners that can cause wool shrinkage, damage elastic fibers, or color bleeding.
• Drying and ironing: Dry flat away from direct sunlight; iron only according to the material to avoid burning or shine.
• Metal/magnetic accessories: After contact with sweat or salt water, wipe dry to prevent corrosion and staining of clothing.
• Storage: Store flat or rolled; avoid hanging heavy pieces by one point (stretching), as well as damp spaces (mold, odor).

Specific health warnings

• Allergies and sensitive skin: Dyed textiles, wool, and metal accessories (e.g., nickel) may cause reactions; if redness or itching occurs, discontinue use.
• Respiratory risks: Dusty/fluffy materials may irritate airways; choose smoother fabrics if you suffer from allergies or asthma.
• Skin abrasions and pressure: Prolonged friction or tight tying can cause abrasions; change the tying method or material.

Disposal

• Sorted waste and textile collection: Deliver to textile collection points or for reuse/recycling according to local regulations. Separate metal/magnetic accessories.

Incidents and contact

• In case of an incident (caught on escalator or machine, burns, skin reaction) stop using the product immediately. Keep the product and proof of purchase for complaint processing.
