Important Safety Notice for Knife Stands in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on General Product Safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of knife stands. Due to the presence of sharp blades, the risk of tipping, and the use of strong magnets, it is essential to follow the instructions below to prevent injuries and damage. This notice is issued based on the requirements of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on General Product Safety (hereinafter referred to as “GPSR”).

Basic Safety and Handling Principles

• Keep out of reach of children: There is a risk of cuts from contact with blades and risk of knives falling if handled carelessly.
• Stability and installation: Place the stand on a firm, non-slip surface; for wall-mounted or magnetic holders, follow the instructions, use appropriate anchors, and regularly check screw tightness and load capacity.
• Safe knife storage: Store knives dry and clean, with the blade facing downwards or towards the base; do not let blades extend beyond the edge of the stand and do not use damaged or cracked slots.
• Magnetic strips: Attach and remove knives by sliding sideways, not by pulling; keep the strip clean and dry and place it at a safe height out of children’s reach.
• Follow manufacturer’s instructions: Respect the recommended capacity, compatible knife types, and limitations stated with the product.

Proper and Safe Use

• Use as intended: Designed for safe storage of kitchen knives; do not use for other tools or items that may reduce stability or exceed load capacity.
• Improper use: Do not carry the stand with knives inserted, do not place it on the edge of a work surface, in damp or hot environments; do not overload or store greasy or wet knives in closed slots.
• Safe surroundings: Ensure enough space for safe insertion and removal of knives; avoid areas with heavy foot traffic.

Cleaning, Maintenance, and Storage

• Cleaning: Remove all knives before cleaning; remove residues and dust, blow out or vacuum slots. Clean wooden parts dry or with a slightly damp cloth, wipe and dry metal and magnetic surfaces. Avoid aggressive cleaners and excessive moisture.
• Maintenance: Regularly check the stand’s stability, cracks, and wear; treat wood with food-grade mineral oil as needed. Do not use a damaged stand.
• Storage: Keep in a dry environment away from direct sunlight and heat sources; keep magnetic parts away from payment cards and sensitive electronics.

Specific Health Warnings

• Magnetic components: Persons with pacemakers or ICDs should maintain a safe distance from strong magnets; consult a doctor if in doubt.
• Injuries: There is a risk of cuts when inserting and removing knives; handle slowly and hold firmly by the handle.

Disposal

• Safe disposal: Dispose of stands without knives inserted and according to local regulations; separate wooden and metal parts, and hand over magnets and metal components to appropriate collection points if possible.
